4:1 Screed Product Info:

Product Design
  • Mix Proportions
  • Our 4:1 Sand Cement screed is designed with mix proportions of 1:4 cement to the sand where the sand is the major constituent and which is widely applied and complies with SANS 50197-1. The Mix ratio produces a plastic, easy-working, cohesive mortar of plastering consistence. Water reducing admixtures are used to decrease water used in the mix to prevent drying shrinkage.

  • Compressive strength:
  • Our 4:1 Screed can be designed from 20Mpa - 40Mpa. If higher compressive strength are required, special arrangements and considerations needs to be taken to design the screed concrete to perform optimally.

  • Drying Shrinkage:
  • Sand-Cement Screeds exhibit higher drying shrinkage, creep and lower stiffness than normal concrete. This is due to higher water content and cement content per volume and are not restrained by course aggregates.

  • Permeability
  • Sand-Cement Screeds are more permeable and the correct compaction and curing is essential. It is advisable to seal the surface with a proprietery sealant in order to prevent stains from spillage or breakages.

  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Sand-Cement Screeds are more permeable and the correct compaction and curing is essential. It is advisable to seal the surface with a proprietery sealant to prevent stains from spillage or breakages.

  • Fibre Reinforcement
  • We add microfibres to our screed mixes to prevent shrinkage and increase abrasion resistance

General Applications
  • ◘ Underfloor heating - (20Mpa)
  • Screed sufficient to cover underfloor heating systems

  • ◘ Floor Levelling - (20 - 40 Mpa)
  • Workability makes floor levelling easier, concrete can easily be sloped without any movement.

  • ◘ Decorative Floors - (20 - 30 Mpa)
  • 4:1 Screeds can be floated so that a high smooth finish is acheived. Decorative products like pigments and colour hardners can easily be added for the desired result. Please se our decorative concrete range for more info.

  • ◘ Floor Repairs (30 Mpa)/li>

Together with the correct use of bonding agents our 4:1 Concrete screed Mix can be used for concrete floor repairs.

  • ◘ Decorative polished floor screed - (30Mpa)
  • When our 4:1 Concrete screed is polished, a beautiful cream consistent texture finish is acheived. This is a very popular concrete product in our decorative concrete range.

Discharge Method

Concrete is discharged straight from the vehicle's chute to the placement area. Where the 4m chute extension can't reach the placement area, wheelbarrows, skip, crane lift or conveyor belts can be used. The concrete screed is discharged on a plastic sheet if concrete needs to be move with wheelbarrows on site otherwise standing times will be invoiced.

Our 4:1 Concrete screed mix can be pumped with a boom or stationary pump, this needs to be arranged when ordered as the mix design is slightly different and more workable.

How to Order:

To order concrete you will need the following information:
1. Strength required
2. Volume(m³) Required
3. Delivery Address

We will send a quote based on the supplied details. If you are not sure about the volumes required, contact your engineur or architect for this information. You can also view the Volume calculator page. Please remember that it is always wise to measure on site as well and not just calculating based on plan drawings. Excavations, trench depths and surface level can influence the actual volumes required.

  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Sand-cement screeds have lower abrasion resistance than a Fine concrete screed Mix. This needs to be taken into consideration when specifying the concrete needed. Abrasion resistance can, however, be improved if the screeds water-cement ratio is as low as possible (Thus a dryer screed mix) that should be fully compacted and sufficient curing is essential.

  • Fibre Reinforcement
  • We add microfibres to our screed mixes to prevent shrinkage and increase abrasion resistance

General Applications
  • ◘ Industrial Floors - (30Mpa)
  • Screed sufficient for high volume traffic as well as loading weight.

  • ◘ Driveways and loading docs - (30 - 40 Mpa)
  • Sufficient for heavyweight vehicles and general traffic

  • ◘ Ramps - (30 Mpa)
  • Resistant to abrasion

  • ◘ Warehouse Floor Repairs (30 - 40 Mpa) but only at minimum depths of 40mm/li>

Together with the correct use of bonding agents our Fine aggregate screed Mix can be used for concrete floor repairs.

  • ◘ Decorative polished floor screed - (30Mpa)
  • When our fine aggregate Concrete screed is polished, a highly textured and contrasting texture finish is achieved. The finish can be quite busy if a more toned down finish is required. Different colour aggregates can be used together to create an aesthetically pleasing finish. Please contact us for a sample or more information.

Self Levelling Screed product info:

Product Design
  • Mix Proportions
  • Our self levelling screeds is designed for minimum depts of 25mm. We use small size course aggregates together with fine aggregates with properties to prevent shrinkage. The course aggregates improves abrasion resistance and drying shrinkage. The Mix ratio produces a platic, highly flowable but cohesive mix to the consistency of paint. Preperation, application, curing and sealing of these products normally is performed by experienced applicators with the correct technical skills to install these screed floors or to do repairs.

  • Compressive strength:
  • Our Self levelling screeds range from 20 - 45Mpa. If higher compressive strengths are required, special arrangements and considerations needs to be taken to design the screed concrete to perform optimally.

  • Drying Shrinkage:
  • Drying shrinkage cracks is a concern, but due to more controlled ambient environments, protection from the elements and the latest in additive technology the risk is minimised.

  • Permeability
  • Although self levelling screeds due to high density is less permeable, it is still advisable to seal the screed with a proprietary sealant. This protects the thin screed layer from chemical attack.

  • Abrasion Resistance
  • Self levelling screeds are less abrasiion resistant than our fine aggreagte screed, it can however be improved by adding more fine aggregates to the mix, but this in turn will make the mix less flowable due to higher viscosity of the mix with added aggreagtes.

  • Fibre Reinforcement
  • All our self levelling screed products contain fibres to prevent microcracking and crazing.

General Applications
  • ◘ Underfloor heating - (25 - 30Mpa)
  • Screed is flowable, needs no compaction and less cover than other screed products. Easily installed in complicated applications and covering underfloor heating pipes and cables.

  • ◘ Floor Levelling - (30 )
  • High flowable and cohesive mix ensures concrete maintains natural level and fill gaps without consolidating the concrete.

  • ◘ Decorative Floors - (30 Mpa)
  • Pigments and colour overlays can be used to colour the concrete screed. Please see our decorative concrete range or speak to our technical team regarding more information.

  • ◘ Floor Repairs (30 Mpa)/li>

Together with the correct use of bonding agents our self levelling screed Mix can be used for concrete floor repairs. Our self levelling screeds is much faster to apply as on-site mixing is eliminated.

Discharge Method

Concrete is discharged straight from the vehicle's chute to the placement area. Segregation is prevented by sloping the chute at a lower angle.

Our Self levelling screed mix can be pumped with our boom pump, this needs to be arranged when ordered as the mix design is slightly different and more cohesive.

How to Order:

To order concrete you will need the following information:
1. Strength required
2. Volume(m³) Required
3. Delivery Address

Our self-leveling screeds are designed for minimum depts of 25mm. We use small size coarse aggregates together with fine aggregates with properties to prevent shrinkage. The course aggregates improve abrasion resistance and drying shrinkage. The Mix ratio produces a plastic, highly flowable but cohesive mix to the consistency of paint. Preparation, application, curing and sealing of these products normally are performed by experienced applicators with the correct technical skills to install these screed floors or to do repairs.
